Frequently Asked Questions
What is a comprehensive plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is a document adopted by a local government’s legislative body for future development and conservation within municipal boundaries. The Plan will define the Village’s overall goals and objectives, analyze current existing conditions, outline current trends, and illustrate the community’s vision for physical, economic, and social development the upcoming 20 years.
Why is it important?
The Plan will serve as the primary document that Village staff and officials will utilize in making daily decisions around the locating, financing, and phasing of public improvements. The plan will also help to frame potential future zoning and regulatory changes to promote the community’s vision.
How can I participate?
During Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2022, the Village and COLLABO Planning and Design will engage local residents, business owners and other partners through a variety of methods. including:
Project Website
Social Media
Community Visioning Workshop
Community Surveys
Listening and Learning Sessions
Community Tours
Planning Board Meetings
How will we work with the community?
When residents are genuinely at the center of a planning process, a unique outcome unfolds. Relationships become the focal point of the work. This is because for residents, planning is personal – it’s about their children, their families, their homes, their neighbors and their streets. It is about making their day-to-day lives better in real time. As we envision, design, and seek to implement the investment and physical changes necessary to revitalize the community, local residents will be engaged from day one, so that they can help to assume a leadership role in the process.
